Here on the blog we talk often about dental technology, mostly regarding the tools dentists can use when treating patients. However the technology doesn’t stop there. There is a wide array of systems available to dentists today to facilitate patient relationships and communication.
Patients of course appreciate the quality care you provide them, but they also appreciate convenience. Here are a few examples:
- Email and text message appointment reminders make it easy for them to confirm their appointments from their smartphones while on the go.
- Providing free Wi-Fi in the waiting room so that they can stay connected while they are in the practice.
- Using tablet devices (such as an iPad) facilitates patient conversations about treatment plans by illustrating to them exactly what the problem is, and how you plan to solve it. Seeing it firsthand often aids patients in richer understanding and can lead to increased treatment acceptance.
These are just a few ways in which technology in the dental practice improves the patient experience, and the benefits are not only one-sided. Automating processes such as appointment reminders makes the lives of the front desk staff easier. Providing patients with little extras will keep them satisfied, which in turn ensures they will keep them coming back to the practice for years to come.
